Don't Worry, Be Happy.

My first pasta i've ever written so please don't flame  :D

'The family was excited as they towed a truck full of their belongings to their new house. They had just recieved the call the previous day from the landlord telling them that they could move in whenever. They decided to move sooner than later, and arrived at the house around dawn. The two children jumped out of the truck as soon as it stopped, and started surveying their new surroundings. The landlord appeared not long after, wishing the family luck in moving in.

The family moved in all of the boxes, and started unpacking. Further surveying of the house made the family notice a small, but heavy wooden door in the basement. After prying it open they found a small, nook-like room. The floor of the room was a few feet above the ground, and it was so small that the daughter of nine years old couldn't stand up in it. The family found the room creepy, but decided to use it as a storage room for all of the extra stuff that didn't really fit in anywhere.

After a month or so of comfortable living, the thirteen year old son decided to go to the storage room to find a box of his stuff that he never unpacked. He opened the small, yet heavy door, and crawled into the extremely dark, damp room. There was hardly any light, so feeling around was the best way to find what he was looking for. He felt around the boxes for any familiar items. After a few minutes, the son started to feel strange. Thats when a strange noise permeated the room.

"Don't worry, be happy. Don't worry, be happy now."

It was an old song, coming from one of the boxes. The son was spooked, but found the source of the noise. In one of the boxes was a mountable, singing rubber fish that sang old tunes and moved it's mouth. The son realized that there was nothing really to be afraid of, and found the box and left the room. The fish was never returned to the box.

The boy was trying to get to sleep that night, and something about the fish was bothering him. What was making it go off. The boys room was in the basement, so he was naturally spooked more than the rest of the family. After an hour or so of trying to get to sleep, he heard a noise from the storage room.

" Don't worry, be happy. Don't worry be happy now."

The fish was going off again, and this time nobody was even near it. The boy decided that the fish must be broken, and decided to venture back into the storage room to remove the batteries. The fish went off after the batteries were removed, and stayed off for the rest of the night.

The next morning, the boy told his mother about the fish. She said that it was strange, and decided to go down and look at it. On the way down the stairs the now spooky song filled the air.

" Don't worry, be happy. Don't worry, be happy now."

The son was now afraid, and the mother bewildered. They opened the storage room door, and found the fish singing there, and the batteries sitting next to the fish. The mother picked it up and opened the battery compartment. She screamed and dropped the fish, grabbing the sons hand and running back up the stairs.

That night the father disposed of the fish, and nothing else weird happened to the family for a while. One day the landlord knocked on the door. The mother answered it, and the landlord came into the house, and sat down.

" There's something I should have told you," she said, "My husband killed himself in this basement. I found his body in the small basement room."

That is my story. I know that it may not be the scariest, but it is to me because this actually happened. I'm not kidding, I am the boy in the story and this happened to me a few years ago. People can believe what they want, but this is a true story.

I have a few more ideas, and will post more stories in the future.
